Glitch Aesthetics: In the depths of techno fetishism and communication arts.
A brief description of the theme:
In everyday communication it seems we are all seeking perfect transmission.
As millions of bits are pushed from one location to the other, countless error
checking protocols exist to eliminate the possibility of imperfect transmission
or reception. The breakdown of communication within any form of communication
structure or device, creates artifacts. Capturing and appreciating these artifacts
is now considered to have become the domain of glitch art.
Glitch as a medium
By presenting the fact that the glitch and its audio–visual manifestations are an art form, and a medium with which to express ideas. I would like to create, present and describe a number of artworks that try to express my own social concerns using glitch aesthetics and multimedia. In this respect I’d like to communicate how I am using an aspect of technology that has diversely defined aesthetic qualities to convey my individual message.
Why I have chosen this topic:
My general area of interest in the past year or so has focused around minimalism and communication art. I am personally fascinated by the task of preserving the history of glitches and defining their aesthetic qualities in relation to consumer technology culture and retro fetishism.
